An Introduction

Welcome to my blog! I’m Becca, and I’ve been fighting a rare form of cancer since March of 2017. I have a Grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma, which is a high-grade brain tumor that is incredibly unusual for someone my age (lucky me!).

I had emergency brain surgery in April of 2017, after having a grand mal seizure on March 27th. Ironically, the seizure occurred because I chose to hit the gym for the first time in…forever?! The cardio caused some swelling in my brain which triggered the seizure. Some of my friends say the gym saved my life…I like to say it nearly killed me and is now a great excuse to avoid the treadmill at all costs.

After 6 weeks of proton radiation at Mass General Hospital, and 6 months of at-home chemotherapy treatments, I’m now on the “watch and wait” list living MRI to MRI and trying to to reestablish a normal life.

Since I’ve always enjoyed writing, I thought I would start a blog and share my journey with all of you to help spread awareness about brain cancer and all that it entails. Thank you for following my journey!!
